Pray for Myanmar! This story is from the frontlines of missions, and when we get requests like this, we pass them along to you right away! Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, is the largest nation by area in mainland Southeast Asia. They have a population of 55 million people. This frontline worker just wrote and said…
“I would like to ask you to pray for the many victims of the devastating floods and landslides in Myanmar, caused by Typhoon Yagi. Hundreds of people are feared to have lost their lives and many more are missing and many escaped with only their clothes on their bodies.
“Many areas in the country are severely affected. We have decided to focus our relief efforts on Taungoo in Bago Division and Kalaw on Southern Shan State, because we have long term teams stationed there with strong connections with local churches and grassroot organisations.
“In the Taungoo area, most of the damage is caused by flooding and in hilly Kalaw, besides flooding, massive landslides have destroyed many houses and villages. The damage is not fully know yet as many areas are still cut off.
“Imagine the hardship these people are going through, as all this comes in the midst of a civil war and massive economic crisis.
“Can I ask you to please pray for:
- Sufficient food and clean water
- Shelter for those who have lost their homes
- Medical care and medicine for the sick and injured
- Clothes for those who lost everything
- Protection from diseases
- For strength and wisdom for all who help with the rescue and relief efforts
- Healing from yet another trauma many of these amazing people are experiencing”
