(This is a true story from the frontlines of missions in Lebanon shared by a worker there.) “Earlier this evening I passed by the supermarket with a checklist of things to get for the house. When I was about to finish my run, a boy came to me and asked if I could buy him milk for his baby sister. His accent wasn’t Lebanese. I felt in my heart the urge to do so, and I immediately said, ‘Yes’. His first reaction was, ‘Really?’ So I said ‘Yes, sure!’, with a smile, and I felt great peace as I was doing so. As we were waiting together in a big line at the cashier’s, I started asking him about his name, where he’s from, and stuff like that. Turned out he’s a 16 -year-old Palestinian from a Muslim background.
“Afterwards I felt I must ask him why he picked me out of all the people in the supermarket? I hesitated a bit then said, ‘I felt you have a peaceful face.’ I smiled without saying anything. At this moment the Lord told me, ‘Talk to him about Me’, and so I asked him again WHY he chose me out of everyone else? So the boy said, ‘God takes care of everyone’. I asked the boy to walk with me to the car. As we reached my car I looked him in the eyes and told him, ‘There’s a person who told you to come to me, and His name is. Jesus.’ ( I wasn’t even planning on saying it like that! )
“Before I could fully finish my sentence, he started crying, and he told me that he was born a Muslim, but he was told about Jesus by his school friend who herself is from a Muslim background, and now he believes that Jesus is God. And as he was waiting on the sidewalk outside the supermarket, he asked Jesus to show him the way. He had no money and had to bring milk to his baby sister. After praying he felt like he should go inside the supermarket. As soon as he stepped in, I was there in front of him, and he just walked to me and asked me if I could help. He just knew in his heart that he must ask me. We spent around half an hour talking about the cross, mankind’s salvation, God’s grace and the blood of Jesus.
“God is moving in Islamic schools. Some youth are apparently preaching to other youth WITHIN Islamic communities!” Yes! God is answering our prayers and speaking to Muslim hearts! Go God!!!
