Sufi Muslims Desire To Know God

(From Pray4SouthAsia.com). A popular movement in Islam, Sufism, emphasizes worship out of love, not fear, of Allah.  Often referred to as “mystical Islam”, over 30 million Bengali-speaking Muslims of Bangladesh identify with it.  Sufism emphasizes the inward search for God and spiritual closeness to the divine. Sufis seek to attain a personal, experiential relationship with God through practices such as meditation, chanting, and communal gatherings.  Most Sufis are Sunni Muslims, usually live in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, however now they have moved westward to Cyprus, Albania, Northern Macedonia, Bosnia, and even the USA.    In Africa they live in nations such as Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Sudan, Morocco, and Senegal.

Often, acts of violence AGAINST Sufi are committed by ISLAMISTS, a group known for their extremist views on politics and religion.  There are VERY FEW Bengali Sufis who HAVE COME TO FOLLOW JESUS.

*Pray for the Sufis to be protected from violence.

*Pray for Holy Spirit-led ministry to the Bengali Sufis.

*Pray for Sufis to supernaturally encounter Jesus and open themselves to the gospel as a result.

*Pray for God to use the few Sufi believers to multiply many more new disciples.
