In a household, a husband or wife may look at a bank statement sometimes and say, “Honey, what happened to our checking account? Where is our money going?” Likewise, voters may demand accountability from their government officials and say, “Where are our tax dollars going?” And in the church, budget meetings can go on for what seems like hours as members are asking, “Where are the weekly contributions going?” In 2022, Mission Frontiers Magazine (the online magazine for U.S. Center for World Missions), missionfrontiers.org surveyed churches and came up with averages in the chart above. Of course, since our passion is for global missions, we would LIKE to see more money going where the greatest need is, and that is in the 10/40 Window. That is where more than 3 billion people live who have little to no access to the Gospel of Christ. This area of the world is home to mostly Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Tribal peoples, and Atheists. If we are to fulfill Christ’s command in The Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20, “…Jesus said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples OF ALL NATIONS, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the end of the age.'” (Emphasis added.)
As part of thewaitingworld.net video series, we included a video about the 10/40 Window. Even though this video was made before 2022, the material is essentially the same.
