When Dutch missionary, the man known simply as “Brother Andrew”, began his work of smuggling Bibles, he would stuff them in the back of his Volkswagen and cross over into the Iron Curtain. He also founded the ministry “Open Doors”. His heart for the Palestinian Church began a new ministry of spreading the Gospel of Christ and Bible distribution throughout the Middle East. “He had a soft heart for those in pain, the persecuted, and those usually considered on the other side, the enemy,” said Jack Sara, Open Doors’ general coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa Evangelical Alliance. “He was willing to step into a difficult place and talk with difficult people, but never compromise the message of the gospel.”
