(From YWAM Slavic Ministries) War is a horrible thing! The destruction of God’s creation, loss of life, the destruction of homes, buildings, and entire communities. But what is often unseen and hardest to restore is the soul of man. To watch your city blown apart, to lose your friends and family members, and to have soldiers returning to lives that will never be the same is unimaginable for most of us.
Yet out of this tragedy was birthed the vision of “Respite”. Inspired in the heart of a YWAM leader in Krakow, Poland, she put together a simple apartment overlooking the old city where, as soon as you walk in you feel the presence of God. She saw the emotional toll the war in Ukraine was taking on her staff as they ministered to multitudes of refugees and she thought, “But who is ministering to the ministers?” Respite is a place where these selfless workers (both YWAM and non-YWAM) can come for a week to be refreshed, renewed, and restored before returning to carry on with their own vital work. Observers say the difference a “week of Respite” they see on peoples faces is amazing!! Please pray for the pastors and aid workers ministering to the people of Ukraine!
